In 2000 I invited some of the Adelaide FreeBSD people
to a barbecue. It was great fun, so in 2001 we
repeated the event, this time with NetBSD and Linux hackers as well. As Theo de Raadt states,
not many Australian hackers live up to his expectations, so we didn't have any OpenBSD people
this time either. We had the third barbecue on 28
December 2002. All the people who came this year were also there last year: Daniel
O'Connor, who again brought his wife Fiona with him, Kris Kennaway, Benno
Rice, Chris Yeoh and Bernd Wulf.
It was smaller by one than last year: Rusty Russell wasn't in town, and the
other people I invited didn't make it. It was also a lot hotter, round 35°, so we spent most
of the time inside. On the positive side, we got our wireless networking sorted out much
better, with the exception of Bernd, whose system didn't want to cooperate. That's probably
some minor setup thing, but it was a bit irritating anyway.
