This is one of many pages describing plants and animal life that we have in our garden. In many cases, we don't know what they are. Comments welcome.

This is one of the mystery plants we found in our garden. It's a bulb, and the first time we noticed them was when they were blooming, relatively late in the year. At first we thought that that might be the result of inadequate watering, but they've continued that way in following years. Laurel Gordon thinks it might be a Tritonia, but she has only seen these photos. CJ Ellis' friend Sue, whose surname I still don't know, thinks that they're Watsonia, and I think she's right. The bulbs grow well, and in March 2010 I pulled out hundreds of bulbs, some of which will be planted elsewhere.

January 2009

This year we had adequate watering, and the flowers still didn't come up until mid-summer, so presumably that's their season. Here are some more photos.
