This is a classical Swedish dish, a hamburger-like dish with additional flavouring.

30 g | breadcrumbs | 1 | ||

45 g | pickled gherkins (Ättigsgurka) | 3 | ||

Soak the breadcrumbs in water for 10 minutes. Drain.
Finely chop or (preferably) puree the onion.
Finely chop gherkin and beetroot. Chop capers.
Mix all together and form patties of about 50 g. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side. Add water to form a kind of gravy.
Serve with potatoes and lots of vegetables.
We choose to serve additional gherkins and beetroot as part of the accompaniment.
This recipe is from is from Bonniers Kokbok. Other recipes may vary. According to the Wikipedia page it can also have potatoes, and that recipe omits the gherkins.
