These are the flowers we had in the garden in early spring 2022, taken mainly on 22 September 2022. They're not all overly pretty, but the purpose of the photos is to record what was in the garden at the time.
The Abutilon that we cloned last January and planted in the south bed has never looked really happy. It flowers well enough, but the leaves are yellowed:
Will that improve?
The trees in the north-east garden are still a cause for concern. Once again the Corymbia ficifolia looks as if it hadn't heard of spring:
But it's still a whole lot better than this time last year:
And our eternally sick-looking Camellia japonica has almost finished flowering:
The Schinus molle seems to be looking for the slowest way to die:
I would have said “nothing grows there”, but this year we have lots of Acacias in flower right next to it:
The Alyogyne huegelii is still not flowering, though some buds are on the way:
Is that a result of the cold snap we had? The Hibiscus rosa-sinensis and Strelitzia nicolai are also still looking under the weather:
Is the Hibiscus dead? I don't think so. Two years ago it looked almost as bad, but it came back again:
And there are some protuberances that could be new growth. I've put some cable ties round a couple of pieces to keep track of them:
And then there are a couple of Strelitziae reginae that we've had here since we moved in, and which still look sickly:
What are they missing?
The Clematis “General Sikorski” that Bryan Ross mutilated appears to have died, but the other one, the “Edu Murasaki” is definitely on the way to recovery:
A couple of the Hebes in the driveway are flowering happily, while others nearby are looking relatively sick:
I wonder what causes that.
A pleasant surprise is a row of shrubs that the Marriotts next door planted:
They had originally been planned to hide the shed for the arena when it was planed to be on the border to their property, and Diane has now planted them further west against the fence.
The mystery shrub that Yvonne cut from a hedge near Spearys Road didn't look very happy over the winter, but it's now starting to flower:
I wonder what it is, and where we should plant it.
The potted maple “Chantilly Lace” that we got three months ago is now producing leaves and some kind of buds:
That's a far cry from what it looked like when we got it:
I've noticed in the past that bulbs are doing well here, but they're not all the same. The Narcissus are doing well, and they're still coming:
But I haven't seen a single tulip this year. I wonder why.
Here are the rest:
