On 24 February 1972, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom visited Kota Bharu, along with her husband Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, and her daughter Anne. One of the reasons for the visit was to meet my mother, Audrey Lehey, who had received the Sri Mahkota Kelantan on 10 July 1968:

Crown of Kelantan Decoration - Sri Mahkota Kelantan

Instituted by Sultan Muhammad IV in 1916 as a reward for those whose civil services do not qualify for the ordinary classes of the Order of the Crown of Kelantan.

The Queen had had to give her assent, since my mother was a British subject.

I wasn't present at the event (I was in the UK at the time), and until the death of my mother in 2019 I have had relatively little material on the matter. After her death I received a number of photos and newspaper clippings, which I'll add here as time permits.
